Understanding people, traditional breakfast and best possible location for us. Loved the deluxe queen room and the way it was setup.
-
I loved picturesque location and reasonably good staff. Free breakfast, attentive service. Silent unit with a functional decor. Good pool too.

There is nothing better than Grand Hotel Excelsior. Staff were friendly, good choice for a holiday. The location was great, with Trabuxu Bistro nearby, where we could eat...
-
We enjoyed rooms and location, it had everything that we wanted for our weekend.
-
Spacious rooms to stay with family. Beautiful view from the pool area overlooking the marina
Nothing really

Heated swimming pool and stunning location. Had a gorgeous view and breakfast was sumptuous. Enjoyed watching the bay from the window. Nothing to complain about, great stay👍👌

The hotel is deluxe, breakfast is great. Also, it was within a 15 minute walk from city valletta.
-
Breakfast was very good. The room is getting a little old, but still comfortable. Staff is very nice, pool area with small sandy beach and beautiful sea access.
Few sunbeds by the pool. If you want to get one, you have to be down by 8:00 at the latest. Drinks in the hotel are overpriced. Only 2 elevators for a 10 floor building, long waiting time.
-
Comfortable room, great bed (2*120cm), good room service. Great access to the private beach, great pool. Great location, short distances to Valetta
Furniture has become a little old. Breakfast could be richer, with a greater variety. Beach sunbeds were somewhat worn out and should be renewed

Both breakfast and lunch were below average. I would have expected more from the ambience here. The staff seemed rather overtaxed. There must be no canister scrambled eggs in such a hotel. But there was only one "cook" who could make fresh omlettes and pancakes - in a room for about 200 people - no comment. What a pity, otherwise the hotel, which has gotten old but still has charm, would actually be very good.
-
Friendly staff. Quite good breakfast buffet.
Few sunbeds with shade at the pool. Although separate beds were marked, this was not implemented by the hotel, so that we had to make use of a chargeable upgrade.
-
The location is great. The staff is nice. You can get to the old town quickly.
The equipment is a little "outdated".

This hotel is centrally located, within easy walking distance of the centre of Valletta. Its location directly on the harbour is stunning, making a swim in its pool a memorable experience. Our room was very comfortable, well insulated from sound outside the room and beautifully appointed. It was great to have a reasonably sized, efficient fridge in the room, which we could fill with what we liked including drinks bought outside the hotel, rather than a traditional minibar. The convenient parking free of charge was very welcome in a city where it's difficult to find a parking space.
Food was very variable in quality. Dinner was overpriced for what it was. The buffet arrangements for breakfast and dinner were good in that they meant one could ensure a choice of the best available option, but they became wearing after a few days . We did long for one exquisitely crafted meal, rather than trying to choose the best of a pretty mixed lot. Service was similarly variable, some of the staff providing faultless service whereas others were either slapdash or officious to the point of interfering. Having said all that, this was essentially a pleasant, comfortable hotel that we would stay in again and recommend to others because of the comfort of the rooms and the stunning location.

Great location, rooms and friendly recpetions taff.
Poor staff by the Tiki bar. Awful service and poor quality food for the price. A very disappointing factor that would stop me coming again. Also the pool was closed early twice due to wedding which is not good for paying guests and made me feel like a second class citizen. Also having to give your name to get a towel is not standard practice in a 5 star hotel. Needs improving

The staff are always fantastic. Rooms larger than average hotel rooms whatever the price. Location - close to city and bus station.
Although I have mobility issues, I find the Excellsior okay for me. However, I think they could make it clear on their website that mobility could be an issue because of the steep steps and hill before you get to the city/bus stops. However, think it up to individuals to look out for that sort of thing if they do have mobility issues!
